Airplane Crashing Dream - Two South African pilots who were part of a youth project to build a home-made plane and fly it across Africa have died in an accident in Tanzania.
Des Werner and Werner Froneman were in a small plane supporting young people who flew a homemade plane from Cape Town to Cairo last month.

The pilots had planned to take off from Uganda to Malawi before returning to South Africa on Monday, but asked to land in Tanzania on Saturday after reporting engine problems, Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority director general Hamza Johari said.

The small plane landed in Tabora, central Tanzania, and when the pilots thought the engine problem was fixed, they took off again. The plane crashed five minutes after takeoff.
"They solved the problem and left but after five minutes they mentioned the same problem and asked to come back," said Johari.
U Dream Global, the South African organization behind the Cape to Cairo project, says it is deeply saddened by the news.
"The Dream Global: Cape to Cairo Challenge is saddened to announce that there has been an accident with the support plane and that the project leaders, Des Werner and Werner Froneman, have lost their lives," he said in a statement on Facebook.

The Cape to Cairo project took 20 inexperienced young people from various backgrounds and trained them to build a Sling-4 aircraft in three weeks. In early July, the crew completed a 12-kilometer (7,445-mile) journey from Cape Town to Cairo.
